NORWAY SPRUCE
AM I THE RIGHT TREE FOR YOU?
  • Still regarded as the traditional Christmas tree, the Christmas smell radiates from the Norway Spruce.

  • The spruce is a beautifully shaped tree with upward pointing needles that make it great for decorating (if you don't mind a spikey tree).

  • It should easily last over the Christmas period if you follow our steps to care for your tree. Providing that appropriate care is taken, needle dropping should be reduced, and trees should survive for four weeks or longer.

NORDMANN FIR
AM I THE RIGHT TREE FOR YOU?
  • The Nordmann Fir has become more popular over the years, with very good needle holding qualities.

  • The needles are not sharp, making it a good tree if you have youngsters or pets. The Nordmann Fir has an attractive needle, which is deep green in colour. The Nordmann Fir has a more subtle smell with a glossy appearance.

  • Providing that appropriate care is taken, needle dropping should be reduced, and trees should survive for four weeks or longer.

Tree Care

Keep outside for as long as possible in a cool dry spot, allowing it to rest for a few days after being cut, and stand it in a bucket of water.

  • If you are not putting it up straight away and have the tree longer than 1 week, saw 5cm off the base of the trunk.

  • Once inside ensure trees are kept away from direct heat sources e.g. Radiator, underfloor heating/log burner. No tree is ever 100% non-drop but keeping the tree away from heat will help it to retain its needles.

  • Ensure the tree is placed in a stand that can hold water. Real trees are thirsty so ensure this is topped up regularly as required.

  • A cut tree that’s cared for will last for as long as a rooted one.
